Amaterasu

Amaterasu-ō-mi-kami means "Great goddess shining in the heavens", and it's generally abbreviated to Amaterasu. Amaterasu is the sun goddess in Japanese Shinto. She is considered to be the mythical ancestor of the Japanese imperial family.

Amaterasu is commonly referred to as female, although Kojiki, the oldest written document in Japanese history, gives few clues as to her gender: the ancient Japanese language did not use gender-specific pronouns. Some other books, such as Hotsuma Tsutae, describe divinity as masculine.

Our Amaterasu is not feminine nor masculine: they are simply The Sun.
